Thirteen cities in Germany have long partnered to raise awareness to people traveling less known and surprising aspects of Germany. The historic City of Germany are set in picturesque regions where traditions are still deeply felt. Each territory has its peculiarities, however, with regard to art, shopping, nightlife and cuisine. The historic cities are Augusta, Erfurt, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Koblenz, Mainz, Münster, Osnabrück, Potsdam, Rostock, Trier, Wiesbaden and Würzburg.
In 2012, the Historic cities are devoting special attention to travelers who want a holiday modern and dynamic, without forgetting the taste of good food and the pleasure of visiting the cultural and historical heritage of the ancient city centers. At their disposal is also a full program of musical festivals (not only for fans of the classic) and the same events that revolve around the anniversaries occurring in 2012 as the 500 years of pilgrimages to the Holy Robe of Trier and the 300 years since the birth of Emperor Frederick II of Prussia called the Great, at Potsdam. Finally, even the German culture of wine in the interpretation of young winemakers critically acclaimed internationally is given expression.
Festivals and Events in Historic Town
The family of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was Swabian. His father Leopold, born in 1719 in Augusta, he discovered the talent of his son Wolfgang was his teacher, music teacher and manager. To mark the 225th anniversary of the death of the great composer Mozart Festival at 61° Augusta (12-21 October) great international orchestras interpret Mozart’s musical legacy.
At the Würzburg Mozartfestival being celebrated since more than ninety years, in the extraordinary rooms of the Residenz palace that from 1 June to 1 July 2012 will be a place of high-level representations such as concert conductor Fabio Bondi along with its European Galante and musical evenings to be held in the picturesque wine cellars of the palace.
