Agra once was the capital of Hindustan. Agra is located on the banks of River Yamuna in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh and is the most populated city of Uttar Pradesh. Agra is also referred to as a feather in the cap of “Incredible India” which enjoys the most treasurable jewel the “Taj Mahal”.

  • Taj Mahal: Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is the most renowned structure in the world which attracts millions of tourists every year. Taj Mahal is made of white marble and as everyone is aware of the fact that it was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his loving and beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The construction for the monument was started in 1632, a year after his wife death and was completed in 1653.The base structure of this tomb is multi-chambered cube with chamfered corners. The most beautiful and stunning part of Taj Mahal is its marble dome. The Taj Mahal looks all the more beautiful in the full moon-light.
  • Fathepur Sikri: Fathepur Sikri was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the start of 1570. The city was constructed to honor Sufi saint, Sheikh Salim Chisti. The city is designed as per Mughal architecture with a consolidation of Indian, Persian and Islamic architecture. The whole city is built in locally extracted sandstone which is also known as “Sikri sandstone”.
  • Jama Masjid: Jama Masjid is also known as Jami Masjid or Friday Mosque is one of the largest mosques in India. Jama Masjid is located opposite to Agra Fort and was built by Shah Jahan in 1648 for his daughter, Jahanara Begum. The tourists visiting to Jama Masjid can also see the tomb of Sufi Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti within the complex. The mosque is very well decorated with colored tiles and calligraphic engravings.
  • Buland Darwaza: Buland Darwaza is located in Fatehpur Sikri and is also known as the “Gate of Magnificence”. The Buland Darwaza was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar and is built in red sandstone. Buland Darwaza is 40 meters in height. The gateway is decorated with the help of marble and also has inscriptions from Quran.
